UBER SHORTCHANGE INVESTIGATION

Users of the popular rideshare app, Uber, have alleged that the company’s “upfront” pricing feature scams customers. The feature, which offers users a preview of the total cost of their ride before they confirm the booking, reflects a price based on a longer (and therefore more expensive) route that is less efficient than the one used to calculate the user’s fare via the driver’s app. A recent lawsuit filed against Uber claims that this is intended to “charge the rider a higher fare and pay the driver a lower fare.”

DODGE RAM DIESEL EMISSIONS COVER-UP & FRAUD INVESTIGATION

Owners of Dodge RAM vehicles have filed a class action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler and Cummins Inc. that alleges the automobile companies knew of a defect that led to high diesel emission levels in Dodge RAM trucks. The defect, which can cost anywhere from $3,000 – $5,000 to fix, is said to cause the catalytic converter to wear out faster, requiring repairs after the warranty for the vehicle in question has expired.

The lawsuit alleges that the two companies conspired to mislead the public by concealing the true emissions levels, which are also noncompliant with national pollution laws. Vehicles outfitted with Cummins diesel engines that are affected by the defect include: Dodge RAM 2500 and Dodge RAM 3500, from 2007 -2010 (2WD and 4WD), and from 2011 – 2012 (non-SCR systems, 2WD, and 4WD).
